Grading Policy

Back Issues

All of our pre-owned comics are individually assessed for defects using a combination of Industry Standards set in place by Overstreet, CGC, CBCS, and several other resources.

Please refer to these guides/publications if you are unfamiliar with these standards:

Overstreet Grading Definitions (overstreetaccess.com)

CGC Grading Scales (cgccomics.com)

CBCS: Comic Book Grading Scale (cbcscomics.com)

We have made every effort to give each book as accurate a grade as possible. However, grading can be very subjective and we are not professional graders. Our grades are only considered to be a conservative estimate.

The process of grading is inherently subjective, leading to inevitable variances in opinions. Professional grading companies such as CGC and CBCS also acknowledge that the same book may not receive the same grade when submitted on multiple occasions.

To offset this, we've rounded down on most of our grades (ex: a book that looks like a 6.5 to us gets assigned a 6.0 and is priced as such to be safe). We've also been reluctant to assign any grade higher than 9.0.

Every pre-owned comic over $5* listed on our website includes a high-resolution photo of the front and back cover. Please inspect these carefully as this is the exact comic book you are buying.

If you feel a comic you purchased was mis-graded, please review our Return Policy and Contact us so we can work with you to reach a resolution.

New Comics

All new comics are inspected for any major defects or damage upon receipt from our distributors. They are immediately bagged and boarded up and stored securely until shipping.

We make no guarantees of an exact grade; only that they are brand new with minimal handling and should have a minimum grade of 9.2 (NM-) From CGC: 9.2 (NM-) A very well-preserved collectible with some wear and small manufacturing or handling defects.

If you purchase a book from us with the intent of having it graded, we will not be held responsible for a lower grade than expected.

Toys & Action Figures

We make no attempt to grade the action figures we sell. Photos are provided of the front and back of every package. In some cases, we have added extra photos to call out certain details or damage to the packaging. Notes have been added to describe any major package defects as well.

These policies are subject to change at any time without notice.
