On the eve of FCBD 2025, the free comic books are all sorted, counted and ready to be handed out tomorrow. This year is Mutation Comics & More’s first Free Comic Book Day with a physical location to participate at. I’m excited and completely unsure about what to expect!
To celebrate FCBD and an early May the 4th, we’ve got members of a cosplay group coming in from a galaxy that is far, far away! They’re called the Raquor'daan Clan (The Mando Mercs. Costume Club). They’ll be patrolling our event and posing for photos.
I love seeing the work people put into their costumes. I appreciate the craftwork involved. So if you come in your finest Cosplay you can take 2 extra Free Comics. We’ll have photo wall set up and we’ll be happy to snap a picture for you! Just be sure to tag us if you choose to share on socials (please)!
Rather than dwelling on the books we didn’t get (there weren’t many) I’m choosing to focus on the awesome books that we did get. For people who read the industry news, the months leading up to this Free Comic Book Day have been plagued with issues after Diamond Comics filed for Chapter 11 in early January. Diamond owns the copyright to “Free Comic Book Day” and they are the driving force behind the books being published and a whole lot more.
Some books were quietly canceled and some never shipped to us at all, despite being ordered well before the Final Order Cutoff. Other stores got it much worse than we did, so I think it would be in poor taste to complain too loudly.
The bottom line is we have a whole bunch of awesome comics that are 100% FREE.
This is how its going to work:
- 4 unique comics per person (100% no purchase necessary)
- +2 more unique comics if you’re in costume.
- +4 more unique comics if you make a purchase anywhere in the Shoppes. Just bring your receipt over to me.
- So you could potentially walk out with 10 Free unique comics.
This is the process I came up with, for better or worse. Quantities on some titles are more limited than others. The last thing I want to do is disappointed people. That is why I’m asking that folks only take 1 copy of each book.
I understand that there are thousands of “Hot FCBD 2025 Books” videos on the internet right now. Let’s try to remember the spirit of generosity and share the love of comic books with people who may have little or no prior experience with them.

Everything in our shop is 10% OFF with the exception of Wall Books & Sets. Those are 20% OFF ;) I’m planning to set up my show boxes in the event space as well and the same discount applies!
The sale will be running during our FCBD Event on Saturday May 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
